Ways to Donate Food to Second Harvest Food Bank

Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina welcomes food donations from various sources, including individuals, community groups, and partners within the food and retail industries. There are several convenient ways to donate food and make a real difference.

For individuals and groups, donating shelf-stable, unopened food and household items is simple and impactful. You can contribute to a local community food drive in your area. Alternatively, if you require a donation receipt for tax purposes, you can bring your donations directly to one of our conveniently located warehouses during our operating hours. Please refer to our warehouses page for addresses and hours of operation.

Hosting a Food & Fund Drive is another fantastic way to amplify your contribution and engage your community. These drives are not only fun and easy to organize but also incredibly effective. Last year alone, Food & Fund Drives provided the equivalent of 10 million pounds of food, demonstrating the power of collective giving. If you are interested in organizing a food and/or fund drive, we encourage you to visit our Host a Food & Fund Drive page on our website to learn how you can start making an impact today.

Our food and retail industry partners are vital allies in our fight against hunger. Businesses such as distributors, manufacturers, restaurants, retail stores, and growers contribute significantly to our food supply. In the past year, 80% of all distributed items came from these generous partners. Industry donations include a wide array of products, from unopened dry, shelf-stable, refrigerated, and frozen foods to fresh produce, personal care and cleaning products, as well as essential operational supplies like boxes and office materials. Even obsolete promotional items and bulk products can be valuable donations.
