Volunteering offers a unique opportunity to provide Food For The Soul, both for those you serve and for yourself. At the Provo Food & Care Coalition, you can make a tangible difference in the lives of individuals experiencing homelessness by offering something invaluable: genuine human connection. This isn’t just about providing meals; it’s about fostering friendship and building a supportive community.
Become a Volunteer Conversationalist
As a volunteer, your primary role is to engage in meaningful conversations with the people who come to the shelter. By simply listening and sharing, you offer dignity and respect, reminding individuals that they are seen and valued. This simple act of human connection can be incredibly powerful food for the soul, offering comfort and a sense of belonging.
Volunteer Commitment: Flexibility is key. There’s no fixed schedule – join us whenever you are available. Visits are scheduled on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM at the Provo Food and Care Coalition (99 E 900 S, Provo, UT). For those interested in carpooling, meet at the Wilk roundabout fifteen minutes prior to the scheduled time to connect with other volunteers.
Step 1: Sign Up for a Visit
We offer three weekly opportunities to connect with our friends at the Provo Food & Care Coalition. Volunteer slots are limited to 5 people per visit to ensure meaningful interactions.

Become a Volunteer Leader: Cultivate Community Impact
If you’re looking to deepen your involvement and expand your impact, consider becoming a volunteer leader. Leadership roles include Program Directors and Lead Program Directors. Leaders are instrumental in building and maintaining a strong volunteer team. They focus on volunteer recruitment and engagement, facilitate team reflection, and coordinate with the Provo Food & Care Coalition to ensure the program runs smoothly and effectively, maximizing its positive influence as true food for the soul for the community.
Volunteer Leader Commitment: Leadership requires a commitment to attend a 1-hour monthly team meeting, in addition to your volunteer hours. This meeting is crucial for planning, addressing program needs, and fostering collaboration within the volunteer team.
STEP 1: Apply for a Leadership Position
Take the next step in your service journey and apply to become a leader. Your dedication and organizational skills can amplify the program’s reach and effectiveness, providing even more food for the soul to those in need.
