First things first – let’s get one thing straight. I’m no feeding expert. I’m just a mom juggling three (always hungry) kids, sharing what’s worked for us when it comes to feeding our babies. Think of this as friendly advice from one parent to another, not a professional guide.
Now that’s out of the way – I can say that I’ve (mostly!) navigated the world of introducing solids to all three of my little ones. And honestly, they’re pretty good eaters. Sure, they have their picky days and would probably choose pizza or fruit over anything green, but generally, meal times are smooth, and they eat well.
My secret? There isn’t one fancy method or strict plan. I don’t stick to only purees or exclusively do baby-led weaning. I like to call my approach “Mom-led Weaning”. Basically, I trust my instincts and feed my babies real, nutritious foods, mixing in some purees, some soft solids, and everything in between. Honestly, as long as your baby is eating, growing, and your pediatrician is happy, you’re doing it right.
Cooper, my youngest, is 8 months old now and has been exploring the world of food since he was around 4 1/2 or 5 months. I tend to start introducing solids a bit earlier. As soon as we get the go-ahead from our pediatrician, we dive in. From then on, it’s a blend of breast milk (or formula) and solid foods.
Starting solids can feel like a huge, overwhelming puzzle. So, I wanted to share some of Cooper’s current favorite Food Supper Ideas and other meals that might help you on your journey…
Keep in mind, this isn’t everything Cooper eats. Often, he joins us for whatever we’re having for supper, so it changes daily. But these are some dishes he’s tried and given his adorable baby stamp of approval!

You might notice I don’t include a ton of fruit. For the first year, I try to keep sugar intake lower and focus more on veggies, healthy fats, and proteins. Cooper does get fruit in things like banana pancakes or oatmeal muffins, but it’s not a regular snack at this stage.
