New Food Pantry in Hanford Tackles Food Insecurity

Hanford, CA – In a significant step towards enhancing community health, Family HealthCare Network (FHCN) has joined forces with Kings Community Action Organization (KCAO) to launch a new food pantry within its Hanford health center. Located at 250 W 5th Street, this innovative initiative is specifically designed to combat food insecurity among patients, ensuring access to nutritious food options that are often out of reach for those in need.

This pioneering food pantry in Hanford represents a strategic response to the critical issue of food insecurity, a major social determinant of health impacting residents of Kings County. Recognizing the profound connection between nutrition and health outcomes, FHCN and KCAO have created this vital resource to support the well-being of the community. Patients at FHCN’s Hanford clinic identified as food insecure will now have access to a variety of high-quality food items. The pantry offers a dignified and welcoming experience, styled as a community market where patients can select from dairy products, fresh local fruits and vegetables, meat, and essential non-perishable goods.

To celebrate this important opening, Family HealthCare Network and Kings Community Action Organization hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 10th at 12:30pm.

The Hanford Food pantry is currently operational on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, from 9:00am to 3:00pm, serving eligible patients.
