When we heard the Happy Lobster Food Truck was going to be near our granddaughter’s softball game in Northbrook, it was the perfect opportunity to try it out. While it might not be the same as dining in Maine itself, Happy Lobster comes incredibly close to capturing that authentic taste. We opted for the Grilled Cheese/Lobster Sandwich and the Happy Lobster Box. The grilled cheese lobster sandwich was toasted to absolute perfection, a delightful combination that truly awakens your taste buds. The Happy Lobster Box, their take on a lobster roll, features generous portions of lobster served on a flavorful bun, a slight variation from the traditional roll but equally satisfying. Both came with a side of slaw and chips, completing the meal perfectly. For those who enjoy a bit of spice, they also offer the Sad Lobster, a spicy option for heat lovers!
I had also hoped to try their Whoopie Pie, a special dessert item, but unfortunately, they were out of stock that evening. Initially, my order was for a different location, but the Happy Lobster team was wonderfully accommodating in changing it to the Northbrook location. While the Whoopie Pie will have to wait for another time, their flexibility and customer service were impressive.

At our pick-up location, there weren’t dedicated tables, but that’s part of the beauty of food trucks – you can take your delicious meal anywhere! We took ours to the softball field, but a nearby park or even a concert venue like Ravinia (during the open season) would be equally great options.
