Discover the Revitalized Legal Sea Foods in Chestnut Hill: Waterfront Views and Culinary Delights

Just steps from its original spot at The Street, the all-new Legal Sea Foods in Chestnut Hill welcomes guests with stunning Hammond Pond vistas and an elevated dining experience.

For over four decades, the original Legal Sea Foods in Chestnut Hill has been a beloved dining destination. After 43 years of service in its initial location, this iconic seafood restaurant has embarked on an exciting new chapter. On May 29th, it closed its doors at the old site and proudly reopened in a brand-new space within The Street marketplace. This relocation, merely a quarter-mile away, brings with it a significant upgrade: breathtaking waterfront views.

The new two-story restaurant is strategically positioned to overlook the serene Hammond Pond. The second-floor dining area is designed to maximize this picturesque setting, boasting a wall of windows and an outdoor deck. Adding to the ambiance, a retractable roof over the bar area creates an adaptable space for any season.

The interior design of the new Legal Sea Foods is thoughtfully inspired by its pond-side location. Guests will be enveloped in a tranquil atmosphere created by design elements such as blue and green glazed bricks, wooden ceiling panels shaped like sails, and soft, illuminated white globe lighting. For those wishing to bring the taste of the sea home, the ground floor features a retail seafood shop, offering a selection of fresh catches.

From its humble beginnings as a fish market in Cambridge, favored by culinary icon Julia Child, Legal Sea Foods has grown into a reputable brand with numerous restaurant and retail locations across seven states. Its Chestnut Hill establishment, opening in 1975, has been a cornerstone of this growth. While the menu has evolved to meet changing tastes, Legal Sea Foods has steadfastly maintained its commitment to quality and its identity as a family-run company. Executive Chef and Executive Vice President Richard Vellante, a key figure in the company today, began his journey with Legal Sea Foods over 20 years ago at the Chestnut Hill location, starting as a kitchen manager.

The refreshed menu at Legal Sea Foods Chestnut Hill features all the classic dishes that patrons have come to love: freshly shucked oysters, creamy New England clam chowder, savory crab cakes, baked Boston cod, crispy fried clams, and succulent steamed lobster. Adding to the culinary offerings is a brand-new, all-day sushi menu. This new addition includes a diverse selection of fresh maki rolls, as well as tuna, salmon, and eel nigiri, and a chef’s special 48-piece selection for sharing. The fully stocked bar complements the menu with fresh juices, exclusive spirits, and a wide array of wines available by the glass and half-bottle.

Legal Sea Foods Chestnut Hill is now open and ready to welcome guests. The restaurant serves lunch and dinner daily, with hours from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m., and on Sundays from noon to 10 p.m. Visit them at 55 Boylston St., Chestnut Hill, or contact them at 617-277-7300 or through their website at legalseafoods.com.
